The battle between Sam Konstas and Jasprit Bumrah resumed on day four of the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne. While it was Konstas who won the first fight in the first innings, Bumrah came back strong with a perfect knockout to smash the youngster’s stumps.
After picking up the wicket, Bumrah was pumped and celebrated in a unique way. Konstas did a similar kind of celebration with the crowd when India lost a wicket in the first innings.

Marnus Labuschagne talks about the difficulties facing Jasprit Bumrah
Marnus Labuschagne arrived for the press conference on behalf of Australia after Day 4’s match in Melbourne. He praised Jasprit Bumrah for his relentless performance with the ball and revealed why he has excelled in this series.
“Jasprit Bumrah’s bowling in every match has been very good. He is relentless. He bowls relentless long-distances, attacks the stumps at that perpendicular angle with his movement and is difficult to navigate,” Labuschagne told reporters.
Labuschagne also spoke about the difficulties batsmen face while facing a bowler like Bumrah and claims that he finds ways to outscore him through unique approaches.
“It’s obviously difficult to start your innings as a batsman, and I’m finding a way to navigate through his spells. Obviously we got better as the Test series went on. He was very good in that series,” he added. .
Sam Konstas got the skin of Jasprit Bumrah: Marnus Labuschagne
Marnus Labuschagne was also asked about the ongoing battle between Jasprit Bumrah and Sam Konstas. Labuschagne spoke of Bumrah’s celebration and felt that Konstas had gotten under the skin of India’s best fast bowler. He praised Konstass for being brave and confident and claimed that he loved competing.
“I’m pretty sure the lad got under his skin a little bit. I definitely get angry when I get hit back by young bowlers. So, I would say that was fair but it has something to do with it,” Labuschagne noted.
“Sam (Konstas) is a very confident young player. He’s really showing that and I like that about him. He loves getting into the competition and I’m sure he will be ready to go into the next rounds,” he exclaimed.
A fight between Jasprit Bumrah and Marnus Labuschagne
The battle between Jasprit Bumrah and Sam Konstas began on the first day of the Melbourne Test. Konstas surprisingly turned the attack on to Bumrah and played unorthodox shots to disrupt his rhythm. He managed to do so as Bumrah went wicketless in his opening spell.
Konstas played scoop for four and backed it up with a six from reverse scoop. In the next over, Bumrah struck for the sixth time in the space of a few balls. The 19-year-old opener was fearless on his Test debut and smashed a quick 60 off 65 balls with 6 fours and two sixes.
Meanwhile, Marnus Labuschagne top-scored for Australia in the second innings with a fine 70 off 139 balls. It was his second half-century of the match after 72 in the first innings.
