An Alaska woman has been found guilty of killing her court-appointed supervisor, police said.
Keith Haas, 57, was found dead on September 29, 2020, at a rest area in Hope, Alaska, the state Department of Law said in a statement.
On December 23, a jury convicted 39-year-old Sarah Diane of first- and second-degree murder and several other crimes.

Authorities say Haas was found at the Turnagain Pass rest area, prompting a police investigation. Police said he was shot four times with a .45-caliber handgun and was hit by a car.
Further investigation revealed that the judge had appointed Haas to be Diane’s third-party conservator, a condition of her release on bail.
Haas was last seen picking Diane up from jail with a plan to drive to Anchorage to work at Haas’s food truck, authorities said.
A manhunt was launched for Diane, and she was arrested on October 1, 2020.
Authorities said Diane obtained a .45-caliber handgun after she was released from prison.
Police also observed damage to Diane’s vehicle “consistent with it being used to strike Mr. Haas,” police said.
“A review of Mr. Haas’s bank account revealed that Diane used his bank account to purchase items for herself and transferred hundreds of dollars from his bank account to her account after his death,” police said.

Police also linked Diane to a series of vehicle thefts in Seward and a cabin burglary.

Tyler Jones of the Special Prosecution Office said he hopes the conviction will bring closure to the Haas family.
“We are grateful that the jury held Sarah Diane accountable for her crimes. We hope that Keith’s loved ones can gain some closure in light of this verdict,” Jones said.
