This comes after Afridi was not selected in the Pakistan national cricket team’s squad for the ongoing Test series against the South Africa national cricket team. The PCB stated that the speed control device had been rested but various reports claimed that it had been dropped.

Reports claimed that the selectors had asked Shaheen Afridi to play a four-day game before the South Africa Test, but the player did not agree, and hence the PCB excluded the speedster from the Test squad, citing workload management, and then allowed him to play in the BPL.

Shaheen Afridi was also asked about his disdain for the Test; He said he did not want to answer that and asked the reporters to ask questions about the Bangladesh Premier League, adding that he is fit to play in all three formats. He said:
