Nitish Kumar Reddy’s father Mutyala Reddy met Indian cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar a day after his son scored a memorable century in the ongoing Boxing Day Test against Australia. In an emotional video, Nitish Kumar Reddy’s father touched Sunil Gavaskar’s foot, leaving the legend overwhelmed.
Nitish came out to bat after Rishabh Pant was dismissed on the third day of the fourth Test in the five-match series on Saturday, December 28. He reached his half-century in the second session and later celebrated his first Test century with a boundary. Nitish dedicated his first ever Test ton to his father.

In a video that has taken the internet by storm, Mutyala Reddy is seen touching Sunil Gavaskar’s feet. Mutyala, who quit his government job to support his son’s cricket career, was accompanied by his wife and daughter. Gavaskar warmly welcomed the rest of the Reddy family with folded hands.

Gavaskar became emotional while talking to Nitish Kumar Reddy’s parents. He praised the great sacrifices made by the family. Gavaskar went on to say that Indian cricket has gained a real gem in Nitish because of them.
“I know how successful you have been. There were tears in my eyes from your face. “India got a diamond from your face (We know how much he sacrificed. He struggled so much. Because of you, I’m crying. Because of you, India got the diamond, Indian cricket got the diamond,”) Gavaskar said.
