It seemed like it was not India’s day despite a strong start on day four of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in Melbourne.
After Yashasvi Jaiswal’s two downfalls, Jasprit Bumrah left India, and the fans were left disappointed. On the second ball of the 82nd over, a dramatic moment unfolded as Jasprit Bumrah bowled Nathan Lyon which the Australian spinner appeared to have caught at third slip in the final session of the ongoing fourth Test at the MCG.
Jasprit Bumrah’s No-Ball spoils India’s moment of glory as Nathan Lyon survives at MCG
The ball was bowled a good length into the channel, Lyon stuck to the crease, and tried to defend it. The ball straightened, took the outside edge and flew straight to KL Rahul at third slip. Rahul’s reflexes were sharp when he tried to catch the ball with his legs after it slipped from his hands, and India almost edged Australia on the fourth day at the MCG.
However, the excitement was short-lived, as the referee called it a no-ball. In fact, Bumrah had gone out of bounds, with Nathan Lyon still at the crease, resulting in KL Rahul’s stunning effort wasted. It was a crushing blow for India, as Australia ended the fourth day at 228/8 at stumps.
At the end of the fourth day, Jasprit Bumrah thought he had taken the last wicket.
