ICC World Test Championship Points Table, WTC Table After 1st SA vs PAK Test of 2024


The South Africa national cricket team and the Pakistan national cricket team take on each other in the first Test of the two-match series. The match between the two teams was held at the SuperSports Park in Centurion and ended on Sunday (December 29).

The South Africa national cricket team has completed another good effort in Test cricket. They won the first match of the series against the Pakistan national cricket team by a margin of two wickets and qualified for the final of the ICC World Test Championship.

South Africa outpaces Pakistan by 211 runs and leads by 90 points

The South Africa National Cricket Team chose to bowl first and they had a good outing with the ball as they beat the Pakistan National Cricket Team by just 211 runs. It was a good start for the visitors with the bat as skipper Shan Masood (17) and Saim Ayub (14) added 36 runs to the opening partnership.

But then, Pakistan failed to capitalize from the start as the South African national cricket team players were all over the opposition. They reduced Shan Masood’s side and stumbled at 56/4. However, Kamran Ghulam (54) slammed a brilliant half-century to get his team back into the game.

The contributions of Mohammad Rizwan (27) and Aamer Jamal (28) eventually boosted the Pakistan national cricket team to a total of 211 runs. For the South Africa National Cricket Team, Dane Patterson picked up the fig while Corbin Bush took a four-wicket haul with the bat.

The South Africa national cricket team made a similar effort with the bat as they too were unable to score big. Aiden Markram looked the only stable batsman in the top and middle order as he played a brilliant innings of 89 runs and kept his team in the hunt.

A late blitz by Corbin Bush, who played an unbeaten innings of 81 runs, powered the South African national cricket team to a total of 310 runs, leading by 90 runs. For the Shan Masood-led side, Naseem Shah and Khurram Shehzad picked three wickets each.

South Africa wins the first Test against Pakistan

Pakistan then came up with a fine effort with the bat as Saud Shakeel (80) and Babar Azam’s (50) half-centuries helped them surpass the total of the Temba Bavuma-led side, as they posted a target of 148 runs to chase.

In the chase, although the home team lost three quick points, Eden Markram (37) and captain Temba Bavuma (40) pulled the team out of trouble. The captain fought with a great deal of control and looked like he was going to take his team home.

But Pakistan made a dramatic comeback as Mohammad Abbas took 6 wickets leaving the hosts at 98/8. But then Kagiso Rabada (31*) and Marko Janssen (16*) put in a great effort to help their side Book a place in the final of the ICC World Test Championship.

South Africa sits at the top of the standings and will now play the final match. Australia and India are next on The ICC World Test Championship points table ranks second and third respectively. One of them is likely to play in the final of the ICC World Test Championship.
