Democratic National Committee chairmanship candidate Nate Snyder, a former Department of Homeland Security official, lamented a lack of gender diversity in the race during a recent interview.
“It’s a little jarring, too, that gender diversity in this race and conversation is also elusive,” Snyder said during an interview with The Hill.
Snyder, Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley, Minnesota State Party Chairman Ken Martin, Wisconsin State Party Chairman Ben Wikler, and New York State Sen. James Skoufis are among other Democrats running for president. Former presidential candidate Marianne Williamson also entered the race, becoming the only woman competing for this position.
Rep. Pramila Jayapal, D-Wash., told the site that there is a lack of diversity among party operations in the state.

“I think a lot of the state parties were not particularly diverse,” Jayapal told The Hill. “I also think that building the party infrastructure — the state parties — gives us a better seat when we get to the Democratic National Committee chair.”
There are some women running for vice president, including Michelle Dietrick.
“People should judge me based on my actions,” Martin told The Hill. “As you know, we have built a multi-racial and multi-generational alliance within the German Football League.”
Martin, who chairs the Minnesota Democratic Farmer-Labor Party, unveiled a 10-point memorandum titled “A New Framework for a National Democratic Party” after their loss to President-elect Donald Trump in November.

Martin’s memo calls on Democrats to “show up in unconventional and uncomfortable media spaces on a regular basis, increase outreach to trusted local reporters and fact-checkers, and create our own platforms for authentic engagement.”
Williamson announced her candidacy just days ago, and said she wanted to reinvent the Democratic Party.

“President Trump has ushered in an era of political theater — a mass adrenaline rush that has enabled him to move not only masses of people to his camp but also masses of people away from ours. We are not served by downplaying the historic nature of what he achieved,” Williamson said.
“Indeed, it is important to recognize the psychological and emotional dimensions of Trump’s appeal. We need to understand them to create the energy to confront him. MAGA is clearly a political movement of the 21st century, and it will not be defeated by the 20th century.” “Data analysis, fundraising, field organizing, and technology enhancement — while important — will not be enough to pave the way for Democratic victory in 2024 and beyond.”
